I am located at the KRB Kitchen and Bath Design Center within the beautiful Seacoast region in Stratham, New Hampshire.
Which collection name and finish did you use from Atlas Homewares in this project?
I used the Erika collection in Matte Black (BL) in both bathrooms.
Tell us about why you chose Atlas Homewares for this design.
I picked the Erika collection for its blend of modern and classic design with sleek lines. The collection played a key role in finishing these projects with its refined simplicity. The prior bathrooms had many colors and textures, but the clients aimed for a more neutral palette while leaving room to introduce colors and textures through accessories.
Describe the project and how you fulfilled your plans for the space.
I planned to rehab both bathrooms since they had previously been remodeled. My clients were living with failing waterproofing, and their designs needed to be more cohesive. Therefore, I designed each bathroom to best suit the client's lifestyle. I created additional storage while utilizing materials that would withstand the tests of time. I modernized the design by focusing on materials with a classic black-and-white scheme.
Did you run into any challenges with this specific project?
One bathroom had an issue with the structural integrity. After our assessment, our team was able to plan a course of action for these repairs early on in the design phase. The challenge was creatively fixing these issues without impacting the project cost or sacrificing the design.
Tell us about yourself. What is your design style, passion, and/or inspiration?
I like a simplistic design approach, aiming to offer clients a functional and easy-to-use space that fully maximizes the room’s potential. This can encompass creating an open, airy, calming atmosphere, optimizing storage solutions, or accentuating the beauty of outdoor landscape.
Where do you go to get new ideas and inspiration?
I find inspiration from fellow designers who push beyond the normal trends to inspire creativity and originality. I am also fortunate to live in an area where the mountains and ocean are accessible, and nature is full of imagination.
Did you visit a showroom for the hardware?
We carry and display Atlas at the KRB Kitchen and Bath Design Center.
Do you have any tips about how to choose the best hardware for your space, lifestyle, and/or style preferences?
When considering hardware, it is essential that it has a natural assimilation in the client's home. The shape, texture, length, and projection of the hardware are some aspects I keep in mind when matching the design and aesthetic of the space. In addition, the hardware needs to be functional and withstand continuous use.
What's the best interior design lesson you have learned?
The most important aspect of design is tailoring it to meet the specific needs and preferences of my clients, rather than imposing my personal bias as I would in my own home. Also, I don’t find it particularly appealing to design based on fleeting trends, as these tend to be temporary. I aim to craft spaces that continue to bring joy to my clients even as trends evolve and change over time.
